Hello from Jackson Hole

No time to give a full report but the reader's digest version is that Li'l Lotto and Rider X arrived in Jackson on Friday night and met Momma and Poppa Bear and cousin Danny. We started with a nice dinner at Jackson Lodge and then retired to the motor home for more visiting time. Saturday we set out for our assault on Lake Holly, starting at the String Lake trailhead in Grand Teton National Park. Threat of a storm (ranger said 60 mph winds and golfball sized hail was on the way) and a bit of fatige beat us back a few miles short of our destination but it was still an amazing hike. So so pretty, with huge rocky mountains rising up on both sides of us and tons of wild flowers. Total trip was 12.25 miles and about 3k feet of elevation gain. Spaghetti dinner and euchre followed. Ahhh, good times.

Today we're all heading into Jackson for some shopping and relaxing time. Hopefully picking up rental bikes this afternoon and going for a spin tomorrow....setting foot/wheel in Idaho for the first time in my life with a ride from Wilson, WY to Driggs, ID then up to Grand Targhee ski area and back to Wilson. Yippeeeeee

Sure does look like fun! Did you really get golf ball sized hail? I always hear the weather man predict that, but I've never seen more than a large marble fall from the sky. Tell Danny we said 'hi', and maybe question him about the reunion thing that Tracey and I have been discussing; what does he want to do on such a get-together? Take care, and keep up the reports, and thanks Jet for the heads up!
Love you,
David

After last night's friendly reminder text, I was expecting an actual Poppa Bear post. Not that there's anything wrong with this Rider X post, of course. Nice pictures - wish I was there! An "out west" reunion would be perfect for this clan, wouldn't it? After all those summers of buying clod-hoppers in preparation for the great (and apparently mythical) western expedition, we could finally realize the dream!
