Couple Few Things

So Happy Easter everyone. Unfortunately it looks as though I'll be keeping my nose to the grindstone over the weekend, having already taken a weekend off this month.

Which was last weekend, during which RiderX winged down, we wigged out to the Blue Ridge Parkway for a nice warm-up ride Thursday followed by a sleet shortened slog on Friday, followed by driving past the still warm body of Daniel Cole, followed by cold beer and Hot Thai Curry in Winston-Salem. Our Saturday ride, the Queen Stage, was indeed a brisk 55 mile counter-clockwise circumnavigation of the thundershower that could only ever spit on us. And of course Sunday we wrapped it up with the assistance of Nomas for a 30 mile assault on Borland Hill, which RiderX claims to have video of. Somewhere in there was a bonfire, some beer, and a dream about lasagna.

Speaking of lasagna, my new favorite pro rider crashed his Time Trial bike into the barriers of a race in It'ly recently. Turned his left knee into something a little like lasagna. Turns out he broke a bone or two and maybe tore a ligament or two and will miss 6 weeks or so, but that didn't stop him from finishing the final two kilometers of the stage. After which his "friends" and/or the "medical professionals" loaded him onto a stretcher thusly. SOP for a broke leg, n'est ce pas?

Good news from Momitor. Tragically, it is buried in a comment attached to T-Flo's backward tandem footage. I've taken the liberty of reposting it here. Take it away, M

Hey guys! Wanted to update you all on the last allergy test results for Melissa. Despite all my hopes, the allergy is not gone, BUT, it is diminishing. Our allergist, still rates her as a 70% likelyhood to outgrow the peanut allergy if we can prevent ANY exposure, this is both contact, and ingestion. Our vigilance is working, or it appears to be, so we will continue to be anal...it is her only chance to wipe this allergy out. So family, please continue to support our efforts on this long road, and bear with us, in time it may be gone! Hope everyone is well, love to you all.

So there's some good news from outta da western burbs. Continue to be anal. We're behind you. We've got your back. And I hope she can wipe this allergy out.

BoPeep, I'm waiting with bait on my breath, chomping on the bit, eager to hear about the meeting with the church that wants your land. Isn't there something in the O.T. about coveting thy neighbors ox? And is that meant strictly or more generally? And how many pieces of silver did they offer? Lay all the juiciness on us. We won't tell. I promise.

And finally this little awareness test. You may have scoped it already, ya know, in your daily perusals of cycling blogs and whatnot. Good luck, Godspeed, and for Heaven's sake, be careful out there.

Well done, my brotha. I stand (or sit, as the case may be) in some kinda awe. Again. {No shock, mind you, just plain ol' awe, as nothing much shocks me anymore} You described the weekend that was, in all it's glory, to a tee. Sorry I didn't make the time to do so. {lasagne?? too too funny) It's just that work, in all it's (non-)glory, seemed to get in the way. Feels like 2 weeks have passed since I was down there. Where does the time go? Where indeed. I need a vacation. And when I say vacation, I mean, sabatical. Or a new job. Yeah, yeah... that's the ticket, new job, as in, no job. Anyone know anyone hiring highly paid semi-professional cyclist/cook/TV watcher? I'm waaaaiiitttting.....
