City of Big Shoulders

Best Saturday in a Decade, Part II. After we ate, Little Miss S. (a.k.a. Lil Lotto) had a suggestion. Let's walk off this meal by checking out the local shops she said slyly. {You see, someone wants a new couch, to replace our perfectly good only 2-year old couch, and saw this as an ideal opportunity to advance the ball in that direction. Suffice to say I believe I've held her off as long as I can. A new couch is just a matter or time. I'm just one woman, after all, and she's a force of nature when she decides it's time to buy something.} So we headed over to Clark Street and checked out the high end furniture places, including a high end second hand shop called Scout. Very cool stuff, but very very expensive. Alas, the perfect couch was not found. {One bullet dodged, for now.} Next we hit a shoe shop where T-flo found not one, but two very cute pairs with her name on them. Then we hit a REAL second-hand shop- Brown Elephant. We'd been to the one in our old 'hood many times, but this was our first visit to the one in our new neck o' the woods. It was awesome. Mostly for the coolness of the space. An old movie theatre with one huge room, with like, what? 40 foot ceilings? Lil Lotto found an awesome red wool sweater and a sweet down vest. Both totally unused and for a grand total of $10. Or was it $11? Tango found a black v-neck sweater that I was pretty sure would be too small for him and would no doubt fit me much better. Plus black's my color (it matches my personality) so there's that. When we finished shopping there, we trudged off, loaded down with our purchases, heading for home....

In honor of T-flo's new shoes here's a cute little sumpn sumpn.

Really, that's one of my favorite songs. It's my ringtone. And I've made a game to go along with it and taught it to my 18mo. old charge. I sing it, she hums it, almost daily.
