Legendary Family Singing Ability Reaches a New Level!

Just wanted to let everyone know that at least part of my family is proudly carrying on the family tradition of not being able to carry a tune in a bucket! The elder mumbyson has given me permission to share his recent experience with the school musical. Already a veteran of the stage, he decided to try out for the school's production of Guys and Dolls. To prepare for the audition, he arranged to meet with a friend of mine who teaches choir. I warned her about the family singing skills, but she agreed to try anyway. After two lessons, she told him he sang beautifully, as long as the song was within his five-note range. So he tried out, got a speaking part as a bum, and will also be part of the men's chorus throughout the play. He announced last night, however, that he is on "vocal probation"! The director has told him he might need to just mouth the words while everyone else sings. Will he improve enough to be able to sing at the performance, or will he be just another pretty face up there on the stage? To find out the answer to this and other burning questions (such as, what will the "Hot Box Dancers" be wearing under the dresses they will be ripping off on stage?) come to the play on March 27, 28, or 29! Tickets are cheap, and there's a package deal for food and lodging at the Mumby B&B.

Huh?! What's that?! You say this family can't sing? Who says?

Anyway, sorry about your probation Prince Mumby. Clearly your director has a tin ear.

"Haaappy birthdaaay to yuuuuu..." Besides, it's only the male singing ability that's truly legendary, from what I remember. You and me, we sing like the angels, right, sis?

Yeah, now yer talkin'.... it's just the dudes on this branch of the family tree who couldn't carry a tune if had handles. Last I checked, my melodic tones most closely resemble those of Barbra Streisand, or maybe Celine Dione. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Hi Mumbymom, apologize to our sweet Prince for thegenes that run to flat vocal tones. K-Dave had to be tutored for his part in My Fair Lady. I'm scheduled to see a play at Meadowbrook that weekend, so I guess it's up to the rest of the clan to step up and take advantage of the B&B offer.
