SpringzaPeepin

So I turned the furnace off on Monday after our return from sunny Chicago. We had an O.K. time with RiderX and Lotto. If you call the Best Saturday in a Decade (tm) followed by a very excellent Sunday followed by a way too early Monday morning flight O.K. More on all that later maybe as time allows. So the furnace is off. I rode to work Wednesday in about 60 degree air, only to discover that the storms that caused so much death and destruction in TN and AR were on their way to us, carrying hail, 45 mph winds, and an inch or two of rain. Gonna hit around 4 or 4:30, right when I have to leave to be in the barn when the streetlights come on. So instead of trying to fight all that and the impending darkness and the extra afterwork traffic, I bugged out at 2:00. Rode home into the teeth of a steady 25 mph wind gusting to 40 [but it was 70 degrees, so . . .], the sky going darker and scarier. Riding through the woods seeing the flowering quince blooming, some brave daffodils, and riding past a very rare wet spot, what do I hear? That's right. February 6. Spring Peepaz in da Howz. If they're peepin, it must be spring. They ain't winter peepers. Who peeps in the winter? Nobody. Nobody at all. Got home a little after 3, it kept blowing, spit about 18 drops of rain, then cleared up by sunset. No hail. No rain. Nuttin.
So if any Tamers out there need a little spring peepin right about now, come on Down. RideRx is due mid-March for a training camp in the BluRidge. Anybody else?
And sorry I ain't been commenting or posting, but I've barely had time to log in lately. More about the OK weekend in the city of broad shoulders later. And thanks again RideRx and Lotto. It wasn't just good, it was good enough.

Whew. I was gettin' worried about you. As for the Best Saturday in a Decade™, I have to agree. Ditto for Sunday. Waaaay fun. And I just got off the phone with the lawyer I bumped into at the Joe Henry concert- she had the exact same reaction as us, to both the opening act and to JH. Prob'ly the best main act of a concert I've seen in, oh, maybe ever. And I don't know if you heard, but it's a good thing you did leave early on Monday. No flights in or out of Midway from about 11 am to 4 pm on account of a layer of fog thicker than the calluses on your poor hands. Things were still in the crapper the next day there too, so I heard. Nick o' time, I tell ya, nick o’ time.

As for your ride to/from work – sounds like a fun one. Not. Well, I mean, sorta fun, if not at the time certainly in retrospect. I ain’t breathed fresh air while riding in about 2 weeks, and it looks like at least 2 more till it happens again. But at least my right hammy and the back of my right knee still hurt. I'm contemplating a visit to the doc. But then again, really? What’s the point? I know she’ll just tell me to rest it, which I don’t want to do, so why bother? And speakin’ of riding, you got a picture and/or link to some info on your next bike? I’m wonderin’ if maybe I should follow suit.

And the spring training trip is penciled in – I’ll look at flights ASAP for the weekend of March 14-16. Who else is in?
