Fourteen Years and Counting

My favorite 8th grader turns 14 today! It seems like only yesterday we were racing to the hospital in the middle of the night, battling thick fog from the January thaw and hoping like heck my water didn't break in the company car we were driving. And now my little cheesehead is graduating from middle school and starting to think about driver's ed. This year's January thaw is long gone, and we are knee-deep in snow now (more than a foot in the last few days, another 6 expected by tomorrow night.)

And my little baby brother will be celebrating a birthday tomorrow!! Thirty six, I think. I wonder what kind of creative cake he'll get this year? We're not actually having a birthday cake at our house this year. The birthday boy requested birthday fudge, instead. I've never made it before, but it seems to have turned out okay. All are welcome to come try it - I made 6 pounds!

A great big Liontamer Happy Birthday to Master Mumby. Six pounds of fudge instead of a cake sounds like a brilliant trade off. Chocolate with walnuts for me, please. I'll be there in about 17 hours. Depending on the weather.
Fourteen already? You're right, it just flies by. It's like a pebble dropped off a cliff, traveling 32 feet per second per second, moving faster as the years go by. Four more years and he'll moving off to Houghton or East Lansing or Palo Alto. In the blink of an eye.

Happy Birthday GSD! Rock On! And I hope you didn't spend it all in one place.

Huge Happy Birthday (albeit a little belated) to my favorite Godson. And I 2nd Uncle T's comments on the fudge vs. the Cake. You are obviously wise beyond your years.
